How to Pack a Gym Bag Towel Airing Pouch
Use a mesh pouch and a wet bag to separate clean and used towels, keeping your gym bag from getting musty.

Choose a breathable pouch

Pick a mesh pouch that fits one towel and check that the zipper or drawstring works smoothly.
Mesh lets the dry towel breathe and makes it easy to hang the pouch later.
Do not use a pouch with holes or a stuck zipper.
Roll the dry towel

Lay a clean towel flat and roll it tightly enough to fit inside the pouch.
A roll saves space and is easier to pull out than a loose bundle.
Pack only a fully dry towel.
Slide it into the mesh pouch

Place the rolled towel inside the pouch without overstuffing it.
A little looseness keeps the towel easier to grab and air out.
Do not pack damp clothes with the clean towel.
Add an empty wet bag

Pack a separate waterproof wet bag for the used towel.
The wet bag isolates moisture while the mesh pouch handles the clean towel.
A wet bag is temporary storage, not a place to seal a towel for days.
Keep the pouch near the top

Place the mesh pouch near the top or in a side pocket of the gym bag.
Top placement keeps the towel easy to reach and away from shoes or heavy gear.
Do not let a water bottle press against it and leak.
Separate it after use

After the workout, put the damp towel into the wet bag away from clean clothes.
Quick separation stops other items from absorbing moisture.
Keep damp towels away from electronics.
Air it out at home

When you get home, open the wet bag and hang or spread the towel to dry.
The sooner air reaches the towel, the less likely it is to smell musty.
Do not leave a wet bag closed in the gym bag overnight.
Reset with a dry towel

Once clean and dry, roll a towel back into the mesh pouch for next time.
Resetting early makes the next gym trip easier.
If the bag smells, wash the bag and pouch before reusing them.
