How to Organize Charging Cables in a Home Office Drawer
Coil charging cables by connector and condition so the drawer stops turning into a knot.

Pull out tangled cables

Take every cable and charger from the drawer and place them on the desk.
Seeing them together reveals duplicates, damaged cords, and unknown extras.
Do not yank tightly knotted cables.
Check cable ends

Inspect each connector, outer jacket, and bend point for cracks.
Damaged cables can be unreliable and risky.
Do not keep cables with exposed wire, heat, or loose connectors.
Group by connector

Place cables with the same connector or use into small groups.
Grouping before coiling removes guessing later.
Do not force power cables and delicate cords into one bundle.
Coil loosely

Wrap each cable in a natural loop around your fingers without sharp bends.
Loose coils reduce stress on the cable.
Do not wrap cords too tightly.
Fasten with a reusable tie

Secure each coil gently with a reusable cable tie.
A tied coil will not unravel and can be removed one at a time.
Do not cinch the tie hard enough to mark the cable.
Place coils in dividers

Put coiled cables into low drawer dividers and keep charger blocks nearby.
Boundaries keep coils from tangling together again.
Do not let heavy chargers press on small connectors.
Separate bad or unknown cords

Place damaged or unknown cables in a small box for checking or recycling.
Problem cords stay out of the daily-use area.
Recycle electronic waste according to local rules.
Keep only daily amounts

Move rarely used backups elsewhere and keep only a few in the daily drawer.
A lighter drawer is easier to maintain.
Do not store liquids, loose metal, or batteries on top of cables.
